But in any case, I thought that it was cool how they showed the Live Action movie sets and their couterpart video game sets which are very similar.

This looks pretty cool, however the short film is just that, 25 minutes which is available on May 22nd when the consoles come out. Since UBI is not doing a direct port from console to PC, the PC version will be out on June 12th.

Cheers!

OK, first a question:
Is Bun Bun crazy for just having spent about 15 hours in a movie theater?
(I think yes, and I did it!)

Yesterday morning I went to the AMC Theaters Marvel Movie Marathon. All the films leading up to the Avengers movie released today in the US. In order, Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, and then a midnight showing of Avengers. Was it fun? Oh yeah. But this isn't about the marathon, it's about the new movie.

So, Avengers. Well worth the price of admission! They kept the timelines from the previous movies intact, they found a way to explain the return of Thor (Bifrost was destroyed at the end of Thor) without getting overly wordy. Jos Whedon directed a hero movie with all the requisite bits. The first half of the movie is primarily character pieces, developing the interactions between the characters. Capt and IM/Stark don't get along, Stark seems to like Banner but can't stop needling him, etc.

OK, I'll shut up now before I give away too much more, and just leave this as a GO SEE IT!

Also, when you go see it, there are two end-credit sequences, one at about the midpoint, and one at the very end. The mid-point got cheers (sets up a sequel) and the end one was a laugh...

AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!

I, uh...wow. I just really don't know where to start on how much I loved being in the GW2 universe this past weekend. I couldn't get enough and I played until they kicked me off the server late last night.

Kill stealing is a thing of the past. The whole world is open, no more "leave the city into your own instance" thing. If you and 20 other people need to complete a quest, you all do it together and you all get credit (and yes, the more people there to play, the difficulty scales up). No healers. You look after yourself and you can rez any fallen player or NPC.

In character creation you do a fill-in-the-blanks thing on about 6 or 7 screens to create a personal story quest that you will follow. Were you born a noble, or maybe a commoner? At the last big party in your town, did you get so drunk you blacked out, or did you get in a fight? Everything you choose will play out in some way. Very cool.

Graphics are absolutely gorgeous. Unlike original GW, in this one you can jump, swim, and go anywhere you want. No more linear paths to follow. No mounts, but map travel is still a good feature. Once you've uncovered a new waypoint you just click on it from anywhere in the world and you'll travel there instantly. For a few coins.

They have day and night cycles!

I wandered around the shoreline in Lion's Arch and was amazed to see they added sunlight reflections on the water that shone on the cliffs. Beautiful detail. All areas including cities have points of interest to discover (kind of an achievement, although completing it doesn't give you any perks or titles - so far). The Lion's Arch zone is HUGE, took me just about 2 hours to explore everything, including underwater sights, swimming through sewers, and following every pathway to find my way up to one of the most bizarre architectural constructs I've ever seen.

Lots of classes to choose from (engineer, thief, necromancer, warrior, guardian, elementalist, ranger, mesmer). Beta races were human, Norn, and Charr. Full release will have the little Asura guys and one other (can't remember it right now).

The beta ran very smoothly, although it was crowded and the starter areas were so full they were putting people on random overflow servers, which made it nearly impossible to stay grouped with your friends. Oh well. Beta rush pains.

When you friend someone, you actually friend their account. I grouped with my friend and he logged off, then I made a new character. When he logged back in we were still grouped but I was on my new toon. Neat concept, saves having to regroup if you switch out to a different character.

No more grinding. And if you're level 15 and you go into a noob area, they scale down your skills/damage to match the area so you can't just go in and steamroll everything.

I think GW2 has revolutionized the MMO concept. So far no firm release date. I have smoked the GW2 crack and I'm addicted. I cannot wait to get into Tyria again!

Edit: Here's a good link for a better breakdown of the game features. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2

TLDR: PRE-PURCHASE THE GAME AND GET IN ON THE NEXT BETA! SRSLY!

Edit #2: Found this video from a year ago, gives a good overview of the highlights. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBC_ig73aMs

Now, I have this distinct feeling the quote "who were you [name]? What did you see?" is a movie reference.

Do you know about any movie in which somebody is looking for somebody else from the past (a detictive type thing), and the person who is being looked for has seen something which made him/her do something to cause his/her death/disappearance.

It's a bit like from the movie "the girl with the dragon tattoo", but I don't recall Mikael Blomqvist using those words. Is there anybody here who can come up with it? Or am I just imagnining that it's a movie quote? Ironic towards the cartoon, google yields no answers. :P

And apparently I'm not the only who has asked this question and not found an answer (again, just like the cartoon): https://plus.google.com/100638413644...ts/5ubWWQjcAay

I know it's trivial, but I've been searching for 90 minutes, and now I just HAVE to know :P

You can check out the first video (the second is the same but in PG) where Takedown has received enough funding for the alpha. If you are not familiar with Serellan AKA Christian Allen, he is responsible for many of the tactical shooters out there like Rainbow Six, SWAT, Halo and Ghost Recon. He has already had some very savvy developers sign on from Red Storm, Microsoft, Ubi and others to really make this happen.

Keeping a close eye on this one as well as GRFS that will be launching in a month.
